The eyelash industry has grown quite exponentially over the past few years resulting in many different types and styles of eyelash extensions. Although eyelash extensions have gained so much popularity during the past few years, some women prefer cosmetic surgery over eyelash extensions.
Eyelash transplant is a common example of cosmetic surgery which involves real eyelashes being transplanted into the eyelids thus generating additional eyelashes that grow and blend perfectly with your existing eyelashes. This type of cosmetic surgery is normally performed on women who have an inability to grow natural eyelashes. It is also performed on those who have lost their eyelashes. For example, cancer treatments can result in the loss of eyelashes. Unfortunately, eyelash transplants are not cheap. They are very expensive which is why eyelash extensions are the perfect alternative to cosmetic surgery.
Eyelash extensions are normally attached to a woman’s natural eyelashes through the use of glue. These eyelash extensions are normally referred to as semi-permanent eyelash extensions because they stay attached to the natural eyelashes until the shedding of the natural eyelashes. During the shedding of the natural eyelashes, the eyelash extensions will shed as well. Natural eyelashes shed every two to three months which means that eyelash extensions are supposed to remain attached for at least two to three months. However, in reality, this is far from being true.
Many eyelash extensions only last for a few days. This depends on the glue that was used to attach the extensions to the natural eyelashes. After a few days, the adhesion wears off thus resulting in the falling out of the eyelash extensions. There are however quality eyelash extensions that are applied with quality glue that have proven to last at least one month. All in all, the quality of the extensions and the glue will determine how “permanent” the eyelashes are. Applying the most expensive eyelash extensions is still a cheaper and better option than cosmetic surgery.
Eyelash extensions should not be confused with false lashes. Eyelash extensions are available as strips, clusters or individual lashes while false lashes are basically strip lashes.
